Drag tires again

my search is being stubborn today, so I apologize if this has been asked!
I know people are running m/t ET street r drag radial. Are any of the manual guys running the bias ply version? I found some 28/11.5/17. These should fit nicely right? Would be equiveltent to a 295/50/17.

I'm guessing the harness relocation would be a good idea still.
http://www.jegs.com/i/Mickey-Thompson/672/3574/10002/-1

Edit, called jegs and according to m/t specs they are the same height as 305/45/17 radials and about an inch narrower. I think I'm going to give these a shot.

Hopefully there's no clearance issues with these. Always nerver racking being the ginea pig! Lol.

Those should fit fine. Similar in size to the Hoosier bias ply slicks that a lot of guys are running. I ran the Hoosiers on my car a few passes but I ran them with my stock radial front tires. it was like driving a tow motor at 100 mph. Some have had success mixing the two but i wouldn't recommend running the bias ply rears unless you run them with the bias ply front runners as well.

From experience, it sucks. The wiggle is insane. Even with a 6 speed, I plan on switching to the 305/45 on my next set of tires. I don't like how even with the bias ply fronts it tends to wiggle.

^I've run 215's up front and 28x17 Hoosier slicks in back, wasn't too bad but I bet it would handle kinda funny with stock front wheels and tires.

Try different tire pressures for the slicks, lower isn't always better.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot about the mix and match madness that can result!

So i guess that puts me at nitto nt05r's. 315/35/17 Should fit no problem as long as I do the harness relocation, right?

I know I could do mt in the radial but I'm not looking to spend that much just yet. And these look a little more street friendly (2hr drive) I've heard good reviews on these nittos and kind of want to see for myself.

Even if I go mt in that 315/35 They seem a bit less in price. More options to be had at that price, although probably not as ideal

If you are going to cheap out somewhere it shouldn't be in your DR selection, making passes while losing traction (with a compromised selection) will be the gift that keeps on punishing.

My .02 brother, spend the dough and have no regrets....go Big or go Home.

The 315/35 is only a 26" tire.....so you will accelerate a bit quicker, but they have tiny sidewalls. I've never had my ch luck with that small of a sidewalk, even on a DR. Some friends love them, but I've never had much luck.

I was against it at first but I read an article from superchevy.com where it was actually giving very slightly better times than the mickeys. I assume it's independent testing and not a sponsored test. None the less, these are meant to hold me over for the year while I save for other mods (mrr's and pilot super sports, e85) I'm guessing two trips at best this year.

I do appreciate the info tho!

Update, got annoyed with tire shopping and ordered mt et street r 305 45 17

After checking tech specs on the other choices I was considering, I kept finding they needed 10.5 inch or wider wheels. I already ordered 9.5s lol.

Guess I get to bite the bullet now. At lest many of you recommend them!

Now are there any special info when mounting them and/ or break in

You can run those tires with 17x9.5s, they will have more sidewall as a result but will work just fine.
