I read once that convertible buyers are notoriously un-loyal to a brand. That makes sense given the limited selection and varying model cycles.

In the case of the Camaro, I regard it's only competition to be the Mustang. European convertibles (along with the Buick) have deployable roll over protection; so in that sense, our muscle cars are not completely competitive. (Hardtop convertibles are a different animal altogether.)

Anyway, having had two Mustang convertibles in decades past, I downloaded and looked at the Mustang Owners Manual. I was surprised to discover three things that make the Mustang Convertible inferior to the Camaro.

1. The Camaro's top can be lowered by the key fob.
2 The Camaro's top can be lowered while the car is moving above 3 mph.
3. The Camaro's top automatically folds beneath the steel tonneau cover.

I was surprised that after the Mustang's top is folded, two plastic tonneau pieces must be snapped into cover the sides of the top well. What's the word I'm looking for, ... lame!

Anyway, I just thought I'd post this for posterity.

I've busted my ass for years and years to be able to afford to get the 'vert that I have now and don't have any regrets to get anything else than what I've worked so hard to get now...so my loyalty is and always will be with Chevrolet Camaro's....my love first starting with a '68

Been loyal to both GM and Camaro since 1992 (my 1st car) I always wanted a convertible I would have never looked any other place but GM and Camaro

I'm one of the un loyal convertable shoppers, this being my my 1st GM brand vehicle. My previous convertable was a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse. For this car I looked at the F-type, 718 Spyder, 370z, Mustang, Mercedes 240, BMW Z4, and the Fiat Spider. Manual transmission was a requirement. The hard tonneau a very nice bonus. I got the Camaro as I thought it was the best value for the money spent.

Please understand I much prefer the Camaro over the Mustang. However, my wife did not agree and since it is "her" car, we ordered a 2015 Mustang GT. One thing I have to admit I like about the Mustang as compared to the Camaro (and most other convertibles) is that the trunk is completely segregated from the top storage. And the trunk has great capacity for a convertible. We drive it to the Florida panhandle a few times a year and once we get to Hwy. 98, the top comes down. No need to get out of the car and make sure any shelf is in place. And with the large trunk, nothing needs to be stored in the back seat. We rarely install the little tonneau caps.

I must be getting old talking about trunk capacity

My intent was not to imply that Camaro convertible owner are not bona fide fanboys, just that convertible buyers in general are not due to the limited selection, etc.

Congratulations on getting your dream machine, and kudos for buying it (and not financing it?). There's nothing like the pride of ownership when you've earned it. I saved and worked a variety of odd jobs when I was a teen so I could buy a car when I was sixteen. My dad used to say, "If you don't earn it, you won't appreciate or take care of it." and he was right.

Still would rather a Camaro

I loved my Boxster S (987.2), but even with two trunks, I'd need to pack light for a weekend. Overall though, that sucker spoils you for just about anything: light steering, ideal weight placement, etc.).

I got the Eos because I wanted a safe convertible for my wife and when my son was learning to drive. (I wasn't intending on inheriting it.) The sunroof/convertible hardtop is great, but the DSG spoils it. The overall usability is impressive though. With the top folded, there's still a lot of space in the backseat for luggage.
