Chevrolet extended warranty

I am starting to regret that I got talked into the 2 year bumper to bumper extended warranty. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Why do you regret? I still have my dealers offer laying around at home but did not sign up for anything yet.

Are you going to keep the car 5 years?

I didnt get it. I figured the regular warranty might go out the window with mods and a tune anyway.

Yep. Also depends on what we are talking about. Tune, and engine/trans warranty out the window. Tune and the power window stops working... warranty will fix that.

I have never purchased an extended warranty on earlier purchased cars. For some reason on my new Camaro purchase I was talked into what I thought was a 75,000 mile 7 year extended warranty. I was correctly told that I could cancel within the first 30 days full refund if I changed my mind. After two weeks I hadn't received any info on the extended warranty so I contacted the dealer's finance guy who said I should be receiving the contract in the mail shortly. Long story short when I got the contract 6 weeks after the purchase what I bought was 4 year 75,000 mile coverage. To my way of thinking the extra year over and above the basic warranty was not worth the extra cost. Even though I was past the 30 day full refund period I requested the cancellation pro rata plus service charge and chalked the loss up to experience. Never buy a extended warranty from the dealer no matter how attractive they make it look IMHO.

Cancel it, get a refund, no more regret.

i have never bought one either. You dont need it. Think of it like this, if the extended warranty had to pay out alot of money, then it would not be worth selling the plans. They MAKE a ton of money because you most likely wont need it.

Bought one on a Tahoe years back. We had maybe 40K and the injectors started leaking past the o rings. Replaced injectors on the extended warranty.

Maybe 2 years later right at the end of the extended warranty ,did the injectors again...apparently they didn't like ethanol.....Again for free.

Also did a rear end replacement, but forget if that was 36 mo /36K or the ext warranty plan?

For me it was well worth it.

I put a ton of miles on my car very quickly, so I opted for the 3yr - 100k powertrain extended warranty. I will hit the 36k mark in a little over a year, so it was worth it to me. I wouldn't have done it if it were a garage queen though, and I won't mind working on it myself when the warranty does run out. Being worth the cost or not depends very much on your situation. Can be a subjective topic.

i figured there are a lot of gadgets on this 2SS that could go wrong and service from a Dealer is ridiculously expensive.

Since I'm planning on keeping my 2SS until they only make battery operated cars so I got 96 month 100k miles plan. It is zero deductible when I take to my dealer, and I paid for it with my 0% interest loan so... I feel good about it.

(of course I did play hard and got a better price on it, you definitely have to negotiate this)
