Question about key fob, auto unlock, memory seat

Been working my way through the manual to get the settings just right. Finally attempted to set auto lock, but is there a way to get it to auto unlock within a certain proximity? I set it under the auto unlock section in settings, but still have to push the silver button on the door. Is it possible to have it unlock just like how it locks when you walk away?

Next is memory seats.... My fiancé is pretty short, so her seat is closer than mine. She set hers up on #2. Do you always just have to hold the memory button down while it adjusts? We had an 03 navigator that the seats were tied to the key fob. On unlock the seat would adjust while you were still walking up to the car to be finished by the time you opened the door. Kind of annoying to open the door and have to hold the button for a couple seconds before entering... This same problem exists is you set the exit feature with the seat all the way back. It seems it would be much nicer if you hit unlock on the cob and the seat was finished adjusting by the time you opened the door. Am I missing a particular feature to accomplish this?

Not anymore on GM cars...you now have that button that you have to push in as you open. My SRX had a body color pad, so you just pull pn the handle when you approach, the pad is just to manually lock if you choose to do so.

You have to unlock the car with each fob when setting the memory settings. Hold down the memory button and which ever # fob you are using. It will say which number fob you are using in the DIC when entering the car. Once one is done, lock the car and get other fob and repeat. Hence each fob will have its own settings.

GM changed (on all models starting in 2015) the way the buttons work.
Yes you now have to hold the button.

I'm still confused about this. Ive had my fifty for about a week. Its never tol me on the DIC that it recognized me as driver 1. I have set the seats the way I want with #1 button, but I have to hold it. I see on the manual and other people say it should recognize you and move your seat automatically.

So I guess yall are saying theres no other option besides holding the button down and waiting?

My 16 does not require you to hold the button. It has to do with the keys and their number. I don't have the problem because both my keys are programmed to be exact same setting, and trigger on ignition.

The vette works same....

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. The auto memory recall option is on, but the car won't recognize the key fob I think? Ive seen people say, it will tell you in the DIC when you get in which driver it detected by which key you have.

My fifty auto adjusts on enter and exit. The instructions in the manual worked right on. I don't have to hold the button at all.
If I'm using key fob #1, there's no notification, but there is a notification if I use fob #2.

EXACTLY!!!!

As soon as I start the car with MY fob it changes the seat and mirror settings to my preset locations...
Same for the wife when she uses her fob...
If we're both in the car with both fobs, then it gets confused sometimes.
You have to program the seats and mirrors with each fob, the other fob must be well away from the car or it won't work.
Put the mirrors and seat where you want 'em...press and hold the seat number you want 'til it beeps....with the key on or car running.

To the OP, just follow the directions in the video at the link posted by Glen. That will get rid of the need to hold the button down. Also, check the posts on the page for directions for handling the 2nd key fob.

I ended up trying my other key fob and it works now. Now when I get in it says driver 1. I don't know what happened.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about this on my Corvette. I haven't programmed the other fob yet. Figured that might be it, but haven't checked the manual or online yet cause I've been busy and don't drive it that much.
