Thoughts on Certified Pre Owned? 2016 Camaro

What do you guy's think about CPO/ Certified Pre Owned Vehicles?
(The 2016 Camaro 2SS I looked at was a CPO vehicle.)
Any merit to it, or is it just another sales gimmick?

Thanks!

Obviously it will come with remainder of the 3/36 warranty.. but sometimes the dealer will give even more warranty than that with their "certified" tag.
I wouldn't be scared to buy it if the price was right.

Certified pre owned is simply a marketing term to try to justify a higher resale value.

Check out KBB and cut the difference between private party and dealership pricing. That's what I'd buy for.

Agreed, CPO is just a gimmick and marketing term. Same vehicle, same inspection, but a mark up and possibly an extended warranty.

That's not bad at all. I ended up with a fully loaded CPO 2016 2SS A8 with 2038 miles on it for $36k out the door after TTL. It has a better warranty than stock and was the best deal I could find in a 500 mile radius. Prices for these cars in my area are ridiculous. It's fairly normal to see them go for $50k+

As long as you get a good price that you are happy with, you get another year of warranty, seems like a better deal than a non CPO. My 2013 I bought was CPO and I bought it for what 2011/2012 were going for at the time.

Post the pics!!

I know a few people that works at the dealer and with a CPO, not all used cars can be a CPO. The bumper to bumper will be 4 years, 48 months and the powertrain is 7 years, 100k.

I looked into CPO in the past and some cars just can't be a CPO from mechanical issues, accidents etc.

I can be wrong, but at least from what I know it's def. not a sales gimmick. Look at it as a sort of extended warranty.

CPO isn't a gimmick. They usually start the warranty over and the warranty terms are longer.

I bought once an Audi A4 with CPO. It came with a 5 year extended warranty or 50k miles. Whatever comes first. The car had only 6k miles on it and was 6 month old when I got it. In my case it was a very good deal. Everything got fixed for free in this 5 years. Unfortunately my car never had any major issues within the first 5 years. I had to deal with issues after the extended warranty expired ...
