Any Experience with BlackVue cams?

I've never used dash cams before. I'm considering the BlackVue DR650GW-1CH camera because it appears to tuck up in front of the rear view mirror out of the way.

Anyone use one of these or an earlier model from BlackVue? Thanks.

Try the dashcamtalk.com forum, they have reviewed just about every model out there. BlackVue models are not highly rated, unfortunately, due to a low recording bit-rate. I was considering that model because it's low profile, plus it supports a rear camera too. In the end I went for a JooVuu X camera, although it's only for the front.

I'm also interested in the Thinkware F770 that's coming out soon - it supports an optional rear camera.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I plan on getting a dash cam asap, I just can't relax when I go anywhere, too afraid someones gonna mess up my car and take off.

Last night we went out to eat and parked up on the grass where we had an unobstructed view the whole time. We were there for maybe 20 minutes and I see these 2 guys practically pawing at the car. I'm not talking just looking and checking it from a safe distance either. They had their hands on my windows, peering inside, TOUCHING my car. I quickly opened up my onstar app and hit the horns and lights button. They ran quick.

Imagining what might happen when I can't see the car makes me twitchy, hoping installing a dashcam will ease my anxiety a bit.

I was in the same boat as you, I was thinking about it and waited a week too long. Came back to my car being keyed. I got the Rexing V1 last week, hardwired it this weekend. I updated the firmware for the motion activation.

Yesterday I saw a fox cross the parking lot, person across from me getting a parking ticket. Cars coming and going and the trees blowing in the wind lol

Can't help you but I was tossing around the idea of getting one too and liked the BlackVue features too. Let us know what you find.

Its in the middle of the rear view mirror, in between my radar detector and ezpass. I slide it off to take out the memory card to view the videos. But right there you don't see it from the outside. Let me know if you want any other pics

RVS makes some nice units, Costco sold one on their web page that I have, the RVS250C. Great photo and video quality

I just learned of a new model of dashcam from Lukas, the Qvia t790. It is very similar to the blackVue that the OP was considering, but Lukas has a much better reputation than blackVue, so it would be worth considering.

Thanks for the info, that looks like a nice camera especially for the OP who wanted the 1 channel version.

What I liked about one of the BlackVue models of the same shape was that it was 2 channel and had a front and rear facing camera. I never had a dash cam but I thought that would be good to have.

I agree, a two channel is a good idea, but it seems there aren't too many around. The Thinkware F770 looks promising, and I also read that the Qvia t790 will have a two channel version, but I don't know when.

I definitely want a 2 channel and was also looking at them. You definitely want one with a buffered parking mode too remember if you're getting it for security purposes, along with that higher bit-rate. I think it might best to wait as a crappy of an option as that might be. There didn't seem to be many options out there besides the blackvue that were 2ch, but I keep hearing more and more are coming.

I ran across a newer camera from a reputable manufacturer. Iwas thinking about this one actually: http://shop.lukasdirect.com/lukas-store/dash-cams/z970

Does anyone know if our cars support this OBDII feature and what it does? Actually the more I read about it, I don't want it.
