How many of you have classic camaros ?

how many of you have some classic camaros? I've never had a gift for knowing what to buy just that I love them . What are the sweet spot years ? I love the 1979s but 73 is very underpowered ! Do you always want to get numbers matching ? I know this is better for classic forums but you guys are the best knowledge on all things cars ? Also do you lose value if you swap out a better engine ?

If you have get a classic that's numbers matching it'll lose value from the swap, if you swap be sure to keep all the org. parts. '69 is my favorite of the classics.

We have a 69 that's in pieces right now. We've had all the parts including an upgraded engine for about 12 years now and never put it together. Got about got about 25K in parts just sitting around.

Sorry but your 69 is by definition an antique car.

Classic cars are between 20 and 40 years old.

I found a 1973 z28 restored that I love numbers matching for 29k but I think it lacks much punch .... I guess 1970 has the pre emissions cut .

Almost. Project car right now is a 1970 Firebird Trans Am. Numbers matching, Lucerne Blue. Lots of time and money to go still.

Dont have a classic camaro but ive got a 1980 trans am,this was my first car,im contemplating on selling it but this was my first partial restoration, painted the car, redid most of the interior, rebuilt the engine and trans, pretty much the car that i learned how to work on cars with

Unfortunately mine isnt numbers matching or original color, was originally a 4.9 turbo engine but the previous owner dumped a olds 350 in it.little to no power ok torque does some good burn outs even with 295's out back

Love, love, love your project. One of the mags (Hemmings?) just had an article about all the unique, one year only, details on the 70.

I had a 1974 POS smog dog when I was a wee lad. Small block 350 with 305 heads "for compression", TH350 with only 2 forward speeds, electric window doors on a manual window car (2x 20 amp momentary switches from Radio Shack fixed that). And it was my first attempt at rebuilding a carb. No one should ever attempt a Quadrajet as their first rebuild. But it got me where I needed to go... For about 9 months.

Definitely a "classic".

My first Camaro was the 79 that I bought in 79. It was a burgundy RS with matching color on the rims, the small V8 (a 305 as I recall) and had an automatic transmission. I loved that car. I was 19 and felt like the coolest kid in the neighborhood. Roll the clock forward and I now have the 2017 50th anniversary edition; the rag top with the proper 6 speed on the floor.

Yeah I don't envy anyone that needs to source the unique parts. Radiator support, headrests, hood scoop, engine, wheels are all unique to 1970. Other bits too. Luckily this has been in the family since '73 so everything is there except the wheels.
