Waylens Horizon Dashcam

Has anyone heard of this thing?
http://arstechnica.com/cars/2016/09/...ng-enthusiast/

It sounds pretty interesting... A bit pricey (450) but it has: 1080p60 video, a OLED screen on the back of the camera, and an OBD connector. It looks like you are able to overlay a GPS map + location, speed, rpm, etc onto video.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

I think in the article it says the PDR is about $1750. I would imagine the GM one has a lower latency but this setup seems to have potential for those of us who do not need that kind of precision.

Personally I think this tool is perfect for sharing a weekend canyon run or maybe a drag race.

Agreed! $500 seems very cheap for the features and quality it looks to have

Looks good. Definitely puts my cheap $90 dash cam to shame, lol.

Here's a video that's supposed to show it in action:
https://www.waylens.com/videos/WAYLE...09_10_720p.mp4

Video showing a much better look at the camera quality, which looks a lot better than a GoPro IMO.
https://www.waylens.com/videos/JanuaryUpdate.mp4

Tech specs:
https://waylens.com/techspec/

It can be used as a conventional dash cam for non-competition use too. Even though they give you a steering wheel mounted button to flag highlights in your recordings, I see they mention the ability to continuously record and automatically turn the camera on and off with the engine.

I was confused why I never heard of this company, but it turns out it spawned from a Kickstarter campaign. The early bird price was just $250. Too bad I didn't jump on this. Then again, who knows which campaigns will fail to deliver. It's a roll of the dice.

I pre-ordered myself one too *cheers*, it's good for those who are thinking of getting a GoPro anyways. I was able to get myself a GoPro, so now having 2 HD Cameras would make videos more entertaining with 2 points of view.

Not sure when the release date is, I read Oct 31st somewhere.
