Be sure to check the tint laws for your area first.
I am planning on 3M ceramic @ 20%.

I went with 30%, love it. 20% is a bit too dark for me

I went with 20% with my 2016; I had 5% on my black 2014 and it looked badass, but it was a pain to drive, especially in the dark.
20% is still pretty dark, and great for day driving without being too bothersome at night. I kinda regret not getting 30% instead tho, its still a bit darker than I would like for the night drives. but 20% still looks sexy, so idk... there's a trade off..

Good thread... I'm a week and half into my new car and was thinking about the tinting as well. It made me lookup what was actually legal in my state (NY). I was surprised that 70% VLT is legal here. On my last camaro I had 30% on. I guess I was lucky never getting a ticket or even pulled over for it in five years. Was thinking of going with 40% but not sure what is going to look good on this black car.

20% is the best way to go IMO. A good trade-off between darkness and night-time visibility.
I have 5% on one of my personal vehicles and it's impossible to see out of at night Nick C.

Check your laws. Cops do carry light meters and check. I had to have all the tinting stripped off my firebird and replaced. Costed me $275

I went with ceramic at 5% on a black car. The look is right, and while it's not legal in California, the CHP doesn't seem to have as much of a prerogative to write up window tint as they did a decade or two ago.
