Any news on curb weight of the 6MT ZL1?

Just curious... Did some searching and most of what I came up with was vague

Are the hard numbers out yet?

230 pounds lighter is what I remember seeing.. They've been spot on with the weight losses they have claimed with other trims, so I'd just subtract 230.

Press release said 220 lbs lighter than Gen 5 ZL1 (=3900 lbs M6), AL O at woodward (camarofest or whatever event took place a few days ago) said 230 lbs lighter - he was probably just remembering wrong.

Quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds at 127 mph

4050 lbs - 220 lbs = 3830 lbs.
Weight to power figures in @ 5.89, faster than most.

So it's basically 3800-3900lbs still - got it.

I was hoping it'd be closer to 3600 :(

What in the world made you think that was possible? A car dropping 230 pounds from the previous year is a remarkable (I don't agree with the way it was done, but its quite an accomplishment).

The SS is around 3700 pounds (a little less for a barebones 1SS, a little more for a loaded 2SS). Then you throw a supercharger and related plumbing, bigger brakes, extra cooling, etc. and expect it to get lighter?

The car you're thinking of exists...its a Corvette Z06. You'll need an extra $20k+ to get what you are looking for.

Perhaps he thought the flow tie would have been a bigger weight savings!

I'm gonna say about 3920 for the manual or so. Under 3900 would be icing on the cake.

Just my thoughts on keyboard:

The SS is at 3685 lbs. Add Supercharger, extra coolers, larger wheels, tires, brakes, sheet metal etc. there's your extra 215 lbs over the SS.

I bet a set of CC wheels for say, $15K, maybe some ultra-light this and that for some large coinage could get us into 3600 lbs range.

I'm sure GM could have gotten there if they wanted to charge us $80K or $90K for a Camaro.

GT-R comes in at 3933 lbs and base MSRP of $109,990
2017 NSX at 3803 and $156,000 base MSRP
The C7 Z06 gained about 350 lbs from C6 Z06 (of course C6 Z06 wasn't SuperCharged and had the lightweight LS7, so there's about what...140lbs?)

Yep... because the 5th gen Z/28 sold oh so well. How many of those things are still sitting on lots, unsold? They never make enough COPO's, but the Z/28 couldn't sell to save its' life. That waste gets rolled into prices of future models.

As I keep saying, cars like the Z/28 aren't made to sell themselves ... they're there to sell the rest of the lineup.

If having a Z/28 sitting on the lot got 5 people to opt for a 1LE, it probably more than paid for itself.

Then why not hope for sub-3000, or sub 1000 or even negative weight if its just some fantasy number?
