2016 SS update inquiry
Been gone a while and not keeping up. Has the 2016 SS lived up to the hype of the magazines ? Is it fast ?
Considering one but also drawn to the Mustang also. Just wondering. Thanks. |

I drove all "3" contenders... can easily say the Camaro won my heart. But definetley drive both, maybe throw the challenger scat pack in the mix and see which one fits your needs/personality the best.

Are backseats important? If yes: challenger scat pack. If no: camaro all day every day

If you have to get some complaining sasquatches in the back, and have to haul them around for long trips often, then go with the scat pack. But if its just for kids or normal/average sized rear passangers, tell them to toughen up and enjoy the Camaro's awesome power skip on the mustang

Based on this alone, the Camaro SS is no longer in the same category as the mustang.

Even though mine is probably(hopefully) totaled I can still chime in after coming from a mildly modded 5thgen. The car is all of that and then some. It's well built, handles great and has a ton of power on tap.
Go look at the drag racing section of this board and see the stock times the guys have gotten...it's very impressive.

I wanted a Camaro, but the Gen 5 just didn't do it for me because of the interior, but the performance was good on the 1LE. So I drove a 2015 Mustang. Nice car, but there was something about it, that didn't feel right, then I drove a Gen 6. You can't compare a Gen 6 2SS with MR to a non Shelby mustang. You buy the mustang because it's cheaper or because your a fan of mustangs, but if your a fan of performance, the gen 6 is the best Camaro "Pony Car" every offered up by GM. The Mustang nice and all is not in the same league. Go drive one you will see what we are all talking about.

I drove a 2010 SS for 5 years, thought I would try something different. Bought a fully loaded 2015 Gt Premium. As I was looking at my old car while they were getting the GT ready, I had a bad feeling. Sure enough I ended up hating the car. I gave it to my Chevy dealer a month before my 2SS was delivered. Rather drive my truck than that car.

I have been mainly a Mustang guy or a sports car guy (Nissan Z cars) most of my adult life. My first Mustang was a 69 Mach One fastback with the 428 Cobra Jet. Never was into the Gen 5 Camaro. But when the Gen6 came out & I started to read all the details, what comes standard on the SS, & magazine reviews, I had to go check it out. I also seriously shopped the Mustang GT. Camaro simply won out for me. Drive them both & decide.

Like most have stated, drive them both. Compare options, compare handling, compare output. When it is all done consider two things, which makes you heart feel good and which one makes you smile the most. At the end of the day your choice will be the right one, whichever it is.
For us, well, it was the Camaro!
