Car parked beside me

I have never seen this car at work, and within a few days of drawing some attention at the office, today I have this sitting next to me!

He's just a fellow enthusiast looking for someone that shares an interest in cars. His car is a rare one and worth the admiration of others.

Something in me has sort of a guilty fascination with old Firebirds and how loud they were in terms of their design with the flaming chicken. I wonder if this really is an original pace car or not.

The price on those 2nd gen birds has skyrocketed in the last year. A lot of people are wishing they still had theirs!

Very nice 1980 TA Pace car.

"The net output of the turbocharged 301 (Engine Code "YL") varied but was generally cited as being 210 horsepower at 4000 rpm, down 10 horsepower from the mighty T/A 6.6 engine laid to rest after the '79 model year. Bolting on the turbocharger bumped the torque up to 345 lb/ft @ 2000 rpm, a 25 ft/lb increase over the T/A 6.6L engine."

When I first heard this I didn't believe it. After researching it I was amazed. This was in the mid 90's. Compare that low power and crap gas mileage to the powerplants of today. It's a great time to be a car guy!

Nice TA!! If you meet the owner, you should let him know that she/he has a nice ride.

Woof! Takes me back to the bad old days of GM when most of the stuff they were building was marginal in almost all respects.
