Any ideas on what ZL1 Insurance is costing owners?

Does anyone have any idea what insurance on the 2015 ZL-1's is costing? I know there's a lot of factors like Age, driving record etc... but was curious if people are getting hammered on insurance for these... I'm looking to get a 2017, and would like to have an idea what folks are shelling out....

Thanks

It depends on how much you plan to drive the car. If it is going to be a weekend toy with low mileage, you can get collector insurance. If it is a daily driver then check around. USAA has been pretty good if you have military eligibility.

I carry Hagerty on my classic now... didn't think about using them. I also do use USAA for my current daily drivers. No, this car won't get driven a lot... I'm guessing less than 3000 per year. My current GMC Sierra is 4 years old, and has 27k.

I have NJ Mfg insurance. I have 4 cars on it and I pay less than 3K per year. Condon and Skelly is a good option for collector cars but the mileage limit was 1500 annually.

Mine is close to 600.00 a year on my 15, and I think that is high compared to my other cars. I'm 49 with no points, with 6 vehicles and a HD insured, and my homeowners.

I'm 49 also, no points... only 2 other vehicles... but this gives me a good idea. Thank you.

I had a 2012 ZL1 and was 26 at the time. It was the weekender car and I had a 2001 Honda Insight for the DD. Both full coverage insured was around $100-$120 a month. Not sure how I managed that... But it was a hella deal (At least for me). And it wasn't some crap cut rate policy either.

This is kind of a pointless question. Insurance rates depend on a whole number of things, including:

- Zip code
- State
- Driving record
- Age of driver
- Length of insurance coverage
- Number of vehicles

I believe the OP was curious as to whether owning this vehicle would discount all those factors. Example is I can be just as much of a jerk in a SmartCar so why should I pay more for a ZL1. Fortunately with a good record, age and multiple vehicles I expect to be quoted fairly. If not I'll likely buy a Tesla P85 and go drag racing with it in the spirit of being environmentally friendly.

Luckily, for Progressive, they don't differentiate GM models as anything more than "V8 Camaro Coupe." When I priced out a C5 Z06 vs C5 Base, it was like $6/mo more. The year of the vehicle made a way bigger difference, even in the same gen (1998 vs 2003 for instance).

What I'm saying is if you can afford to insure a V8 2017 Camaro you can probably insure a V8 Supercharged 2017 Camaro. It'll be more but not a crazy amount.

Hence why I said "I know there's a lot of factors like Age, driving record etc... but was curious if people are getting hammered on insurance for these... "

But you probably just read the thread title and didn't read the original post.

Thanks for your input...

To the others, thank you. I appreciate it.

Trublu, I have my insurance with National Corvette Museum's Collector Policy. I pay $1400.00 total p/yr. for the 67 Vette, 12 ZL1 and 15 Corvette all at declared value (No Depreciation). I'm limited to 6000 mi. p/yr per car and have to keep them in a garage. Give Adam or Bobbie Jo a call and see if they can help you.
