Thouhgts after 2 weeks, 225 miles

First off, I certainly have not had enough seat time to really get comfy. My wife has probably put half the miles on it with me in the passenger seat. I have sciatica so sitting and driving a stick are tough. By the time I decided I should have gotten an auto it was to late to change the order, fortunately I work from home so I don't NEED to drive much.

Anyhow, the seat belt placement down on the edge of the seat makes it tough for me to get in and out. even my wife complains about it. I miss the 5th gen here.

The car has to many damn notifications and I haven't found a way to turn them off. I am more than capable of looking at the screen and checking to see that my phone is connected to BT.

The car is stupid fast! I love my 4th gen and she's quick, the 5th gen was quicker but felt heavy. The 6th gen is light and nimble. I give GM a lot of credit for finally giving us mag ride control, it is nothing short of amazing. I drove a 15 Mustang with Fords version and I felt that it was to sloppy and had to put it in track mode to get it to keep up with my 4th gen (Firehawk with the Bilstiene setup). I still miss the good old fashioned power steering but that is just me I suppose. The steering in the 6th gen is so much better than the 5th.

It's a pain in the ass to dry! The front and rear have to many nooks and cranny's. Oh well, gotta love real world problems eh?

I played around with the settings and set the windows for auto down when you hold the unlock button. Great feature when it's this hot out! I also turned on the auto seat so when my wife uses her key and starts the car it puts her in her saved position. I also turned on the auto mirrors when you put the car in reverse. I just love all the new tech features! The wireless charge pad could be bigger... I did not turn on the exit feature since I have kids and don't want to crush them

I still love the visibility in my 4th gen though and wish we could get a hatch instead of a trunk.

It truly is an amazing car and I look forward to driving it more when (if) my leg gets better.

GM has done amazing things with this car! I said that with the 5th gen but this blows it away.

Nice review and very sorry to hear about your sciatica! Good thing ur wife is capable of driving a manual as well.

One thing about the manual since it may not shift as fast as the auto bit when you hit the next gear after a 4-5k rpm pull.. it's a definite whiplash!!

Puts a smile on my face EVERYTIME. 6th Gen is amazing!

Hopefully your leg gets better and you are able to drive it more

See the thread about detailing.
Using a leaf blower after a wash is the way to go and you can buy a smaller version for small areas!
Night and day difference in dry time and effort.
Double back fusion here and I understand the pain! Hope that gets better FAST!
It will get more comfortable as you break it in.
Hammer down! Smiling always alleviates pain!

I would just like to wish you good luck in dealing with your sciatica. What a "royal pain" and you know that you can take that literally.
Having been there 5 yrs. ago, I can tell you that it will get better, but you're gonna have to be proactive. If you don't know where it's coming from, get an MRI scheduled to pinpoint which disc is being affected - and then get into a stretching regimen based on focusing on the specific disc and location of the pain. (mine was the L5 disc).
Car seats can play a big role here... the Recaros on my CTS-V allowed me to drive round trip to Detroit with 2 stops each way to stretch out. I couldn't even sit in the passenger seat of my wife's STS for 20 min. without experiencing excruciating pain!

Hang tough and do what ya gotta do. Don't let it drag on!

Best regards,,

Elie

OP - i had the same concerns about drying the front of this car so I bought a Metro Vac Master blaster and use it to dry the entire car. I like that it gets the water out of every crevice. Mirrors, wheels, brakes, tail lights, etc. Very nice the not have water dripping out for hour. With a good wax on the car the water rolls off.

Had the MRI, CT and xrays. I'm in PT but it's leveled off. I just want a friggin cortisone shot so I can get PT to work better for me! I usually do an hour of exercises to help combat things. My wife's Prius is the bets car for me still.

Until more 1LE info comes out i'm still driving my 4th gen and I think the hatch vs. trunk is going to be my biggest complaint if/when I upgrade to a 6th gen Camaro. I've crammed so much stuff through the hatch of my Trans Am that it has jokingly been referred to as my Trans Am Pick Up Truck.
