Retro-inspired Corvette

Seeing as the Vette is due for replacement in '10 (is it still scheduled for that, or has it moved?) I'm wondering what it's going to look like. The C6 is a good looking car, but I'm not sold on the headlights. I'm wondering if Chevy will take a similar route as they did with the Camaro and make the C7 Vette retro-inspired. Not a copy of an old one (ex. Challenger) but a design that shows where it descended from. I would like for both the interior and exterior to be inspried by the C2 and C3 Vettes. Hideaway lights and a jet-cockpit styled dash (C2). But I'm not sure if Chevy will do that, seeing as how they're trying to push the Vette as a world car. What do you think?

I do not believe we'll see the Corvette go the "retro route". I believe we'll see a continued evolution of the car.

As for the headlights, I cannot recall exactly, but I think the reason for the exposed lights may have something to do with a new law. Not sure on that as I said, but I'm betting we won't see pop-up lights anymore.

I'm thinking we'll see the next "generation" Corvette has not "strayed" too far from what we currently see.

If the Corvette goes mid-rear engined, then I wouldn't consider it a Corvette. As for hideaways, I agree that they probably won't return.

I think you're right, Moose. But I don't think the law is effective Stateside, yet. I believe it's a European Car - since it is a world car, you can't have 2 different headlight designed...Well, you could - but...

I also agree with your last statement. Personally, I don't want to see a retro-inspired Vette...I'm in love with the C6, any improvements to that - I welcome.

What about a RMR engined Vette? I'm personally very against it. FMR all the way

There was a recent thread about that...That's on my,

"Burn the GM towers if they do this:" list

1. Mid-rear engine Vette.
2. No V8 Camaro

Very short list...

Yes euro made pop up lights not legal post a certain year.. thats why the changed the vett and others like Lamborghini's and Ferrari's

as for the vett.. im willing to bet that they split the vett into 2 production vehicles.. one limited that continues on in price 100k+ and eventually goes mid engine and another that continues in the vett tradition and evolves like any other product

It's possible...Call it the ZR1...and leave it at that...no Corvette moniker at all. It could be a Mid engine dedicated Bugatti fighter.

That'd punch the Euros right in the soul if we outran thier Veyron. imagine Jeremy Clarkson's Face, when the ZR1, or Corvette ZR1 if you disregard the above, goes 260 mph. and zero - 200 in less than 20 seconds. And then, in true American car fashion, GM releases it at half of what the Veyron costs.
