what do you do about impatient people?

I'm learning to drive a manual 2014 SS and today was the 1st day I left the parking lot. I've never driven a manual before this. Put a paper in the back saying learning stickshift plz be patient blah blah blah too. Everything went well till I took an exit ramp off the freeway. There was a traffic light at the top of the ramp so I had to stop. There was one SUV driven by a middle age woman behind me. Light turned green, took me an extra few secs to start moving and sure enough the fat bitch started freaking the **** out with the horn. My husband sitting in the passenger seat rolled down the window and flipped her off. She then started throwing her hands in the air and angrily passed me. Normally I would not let any idiot pass me in my other (automatic) camaro that I traded in but I've only driven a manual for like 2-3 days and it pissed me off.

I guess I mostly just wanted to vent. Thanks for reading and sorry about the language. Im just really pissed off lol.

Angel.....to be honest, what I would have done was just to ignore them, and take your time. and concentrate on your driving and getting better at using the manual....it gets easier and will start to feel natural.

+1
I am very used to driving mine but people today just don't give room for manuals anymore. I typically give myself extra room in front in case I need to let off the clutch faster than normal. You will get it and you will love it!

Yea sucks you don't need the added pressure of her while trying to learn. Just ignore those people and move on.

Regarding learning to drive the car, just be smooth at letting it out at the top. You really don't need to push clutch in much to change gears.

Just get the hang of where the clutch begins to grab/release at top and you will do just fine. This car was my first manual car although I had driven a few.

Impatient people are a thing we have to live with these days, 'feathering' the clutch from idle will soon become instinctive, don't let this sort of thing get to ya.

I just ignore them. Getting no reaction just pisses them off more.

Don't give in to road rage. You never know who is in the other car.

Lol thanks for the replies. I tried to ignore it too but what was annoying was that I already put the paper behind the car asking people to be patient... she was probably either illiterate or just didn't know what stick shift meant...

maybe while you are learning, you should wear an old lady wig, then they might be a little less hostile
