Cast cranks are typically used in applications from 300-450hp. Once you start pushing 500 and above a forged crank is more suitable. The video might show something different and it could be a mix of footage. You cant always rely on media. Look at the magazine article that said the ZL1 comes with the A8. We all know it's a 10.

Heck the nodular (cast) iron cranks in the Gen3/4 LS motors handled a ridiculous amount of horsepower already. Maybe these forged units won't twist up as much though, we'll see when folks really start pushing the power.

I guess the video maker has to get their facts strait.
I checked out the link http://www.chevrolet.com/performance...gines/lt4.html for the engine specs...Whats up with using powder metal con rods ? Why would chevy not use a regular forged rod ? The ford coyote 5.0 has powder metal rods and they suck as a weak point. I am considering buying a ZL1 and I want something that will hold up.
