2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 officially sold out

It may not come as the biggest surprise, but Dodge is officially sold out of its entire run of 2008 model year Challenger SRT8s — 6,400 units in all. Dodge reportedly received 10,000 pre-orders for the revived 1970s muscle car legend, 4,300 of which came in the first three days the Challenger was available for pre-order.

But, Challenger fanatics still have some options. KickingTires.com shows that 28 of the 6,400 Challenger SRT8s are available on eBay. Interestingly, 24 of those 28 are being offered by a dealer.

But fanatics better be prepared to pay a premium to be the first on the block to have a Challenger. While the 2008 Challenger SRT8 has an MSRP of $37,995, the 28 Challengers listed on eBay are going anywhere from the mid-$40,000s all the way up to $65,000.

If people can wait until the 2009 models rolls into dealerships, they can save quite a bit of $$$$$. The SRT8 model will still list for just under $40,000, but two new models will be available -- the R/T and SE (SE stickers for just under $24,000).

Sad part is, people will actually PAY those prices for this car... If they could just wait a while they could have it for much less... I'll never understand people like that

Believe it or not the 08 model year will probably be a collectors model. Only because of the limited quantity and being only one trim.

That said, I wouldn't want to drop that kinda cash for a daily driver unless it was a vette.

It blows me away that people fall for the whole hemi bit. The person at Chrysler who came up with the idea of calling a non hemi engine a hemi just so the mopar fanboys would go nuts should be running Chrysler. Maybe they wouldn't be dancing on the edge of bankruptcy.

I read it's exhaust system is very loud and crackling-like just like a cheap set of glass pacs.
