2024 Chevelle 70SS

Built on a Gen 6 Camaro sub body! This is awesome but expensive. Just thought it was cool and wanted to share this!!!!

Pretty cool! I’d consider if in the $70k range but $150k to start …and no vinyl roof (I was around when the original first out). I’m out

And it's all based on an already nice looking Camaro. It's like painting over the Mona Lisa. I guess I'm not on board with the idea of mucking up a perfectly good Camaro.

I can take a dump through someone's sunroof to give them an unforgettable driving experience.

These are toys for people with more money than brains. Just to get in on the bottom floor is 150K? Fuggetaboudit.

Not bad but I think what makes the front look so stub-nosed is the modern integrated bumper. Protrude it out about 3 more inches and make it chrome and I think that would really knock it out.

Anyone here skilled in photoshop?

This is actually a better looking version than the last one I've seen recently. It is attractive but at the asking price, one would wonder why not just buy the original restored version or a mint condition Camaro. Totally wrong choice IMO.

Or heck just make a clone if you can’t buy a real one. Since authentic mint examples are sold few and far between you’d have a better chance finding doing a frame-off on a ‘70 6 cylinder Malibu coupe and build it as an ‘SS396 Chevelle clone.

396 and 400s are the same block I believe IIRC. You can find the 400 in a ton of old Chevy trucks, vans, and work vehicles laying in any junkyard today.

Machine, blueprint, and rebuild that to a 396 spec with the proper carb, intake, valve train, and boom you have a ‘70 SS396 Chevelle clone that looks and runs like a ‘70 SS396 Chevelle!

Unless you're the oddball like myself who would prefer an original 6 cyl car to a clone any day of the week.

The 396 and 402s are both Big Blocks. The 400s are on the Small Block platform.

I'm not a fan of Camaros being "transformed" but I do admire the individuals ability to accomplish such an enormous fabrication.

The engine size advertisement back then was weird.

There was a 71 "Turbo-Jet 400" big block which was actually a 402 that ended up in some cars. They also had 400 small blocks as well. Talk about confusing.

The 72 Cheyenne Super pickup truck was advertised with available 400 "big block". 400 badging but a 402 in between the fenderwells. My best friend's dad had a red/white one back in the mid-70s. We would lay rubber for days with that thing. I'd borrow my dad's 70 CST 350 with 4:11 gears in it which also had a similar red/white paint scheme and race those puppies all the time. Fun times.

And the Chevelle SS 396s were actually 402s in 1970. They didn't want to mess with the 396 badging since it was so iconic in itself. I imagine the 396 Camaros were 402s as well. I was under the understanding there were no more actual 396s after 1969.

Correct. Yes it was the 402 I was thinking of in my previous post.

The guys at Detroit Muscle did a resto-tribute ‘70 SS396 Camaro using a ‘75 350 donor and a 402 out of a junk yard truck

LOL! Almost as bad as the alphabet soup they used on the 5th and 6th Gens. 2LS that's not an LS, it's an LFX. 1LT that doesn't have an LT. An LT1 that had an LT1 engine etc, etc!
