Skip-shift and warranty?
Does anyone know if disabling skip shift with void the factory warranty? I love this car, but the skip shift thing drives me nuts. I don't want the car trying to force me into 4th gear for "fuel economy" I already get 13mpg with how I drive, I didn't buy this thing to sip fuel!

If you ever have a warranty issue you can easily unplug and remove the skip shift wiring harness from the car leaving no visual evidence that it was ever installed if you want but it seems unlikely they would even notice/check. It is definitely worth buying imo!

Just don’t recalibrate to eliminate it. THAT will end your warranty.

Disabling the skip shift should not cause any warranty issues. My dealer actually installed mine for me. If anything it should reduce the wear some on the transmission not having it lug in 4th gear. Also my mileage improved a little with it disabled. It's your car you should be able to put it into 2nd gear if you want Really helps when putting around in heavy traffic.

Still have to mention you can make a slight change to your shifting that will keep you from getting gated. Instead of pulling straight down to second, simply flip the shift lever to right in the neutral gate then back left and down to second. I’ve rarely been gated with this driving style to point a CAGS car has never been a problem.
Or spend the $10

Shift from first to second above 19mph and you’ll never be bothered by skip shift.

I bought my new SS 1LE yesterday and just ordered my first mod for it. That being a skip shift eliminator. Always do this for my cars that have skip shift on it. They're cheap, easy to install, are easily reversed back to stock if you wish, and they work. Their not noticeable. You just forget that the car has skip shift. Exactly how I want it.

How do you get 13mpg, AND, get the skip-shift...it would seem you're giving it enough gas lol

Because I'm either driving to an from work in a very short commute through heavy traffic, or I'm on back roads on the weekends letting it rip. It's the commute part that is annoying me. I actually get under 11mpg sometimes, but im at 13mpg for the life of the car, which is at 6k miles lol |

On my third one. 97 Z28, 2002 Firehawk #0140 (my dumbass sold it), now this. Installed on the Firehawk prior to driving off Sewll lot in Dallas. Highly recommended. You will still get skip shift nanny notification on days, however.

I don't think winding out first gear a tiny bit longer is considered "gunning it". Coming from cars with 8K+ redlines, winding out first to 20mph is just par for the course for me in the SS. YMMV
