STEERING LOOSE AFTER HEADER INSTALL ???

Morning Team, I removed my steering linkage piece during my header install, then bolted it back is as normal, tightened it up with the same bolts, and now my steering has 1.5" for play side to side!!! i checked the shaft, and the bolts are tight, but there is play in the assembly, where the pieces slide into each other... anyone else experience this? looking for help with a fix.

I’m not sure how much you’ll get from this thread since OP never followed up. It’s happened to others.

I mean, I hate to say it, but it sounds like it was reassembled improperly.

Take it apart again, re-check everything, re-connect.

Freaking hate it when people do this btw, and don't follow-up. There's a special place in hell for them.

I agree.

When I did my install the shaft went back together with no issues. So I don’t really have a solution.

Just posting this in case it helps anyone or saves them some time.

I reached out to the OP and he stated that when torquing the bolts, one was over-torqed and it broke or cracked the weld nut. He ended up getting a longer bolt and putting a physical nut on the end of that bolt and tightened it which resolved the issue.

In my case.. im not sure if i was just tired or what b/c i did the install by myself ...but my steering was loose b/c i installed one of the intermediate shaft bolts upside down (duh). Removed the bolt and reinstalled from the other side and torqued to spec... issue was resolved.

This I was an easy enough fix so I hope it saves anyone in the future a little time that may have the same issue.
