BRAKE ISSUES
I have a 2018 SS and I seem to have a potential braking issue. The car stops just fine but I feel this pulsing on the pedal almost as if the rotor is warped somewhat.
The car has about 12k miles on it and it has never been tracked, raced or abused in any way. I also do NOT ride the brake. Anyone else having this problem? I plan on taking it to a dealer soon. Thanks for any information.. |

From what I know, these rotors don't warp and the most likely cause is uneven pad material transfer to the rotor(s), possibly due to inadequate or no bedding, or leaving the car in place after washing the wheels.

You could retry the bedding procedure and see what happens. Or, get the rotors resurfaced which would cure it but you lose some life out of them.

True and I'm thinking of cleaning the rotors with a wire brush and then "bed" the brakes with a series of moderate speed hard braking to transfer pad material to the rotor.

Yep, Uneven pad transfer.
Here's a great source for info on why this occurs and the science behind it. https://centricparts.com/resources/r...ry=Whitepapers I've used this and it works to remove the old transfer material so you can rebed the pads: https://www.amazon.com/Brush-Researc...07INTEMC&psc=1 Sometimes if the brakes have been heavy used/abused while the pulsation occurs, the rotor can go thru a change metallurgically. If that happens then a simple removal of the old transfer layer will not work.

You never said where you live with only 3000 miles a year. I'll go with rust build up. Up here we get the salt and rain. So, it sits in the damp weather. down south you get the humid weather. Not to mention dust and Polin which builds up with a tree acid.
