So i'm thinking about picking up a 1le that comes with that black hood wrap. I'm thinking that if any rocks come up and would chip/tear the wrap it would look like shit and thinking about a clear bra on top of it.

So my question is... would that work.. and would that change the finish or look to the wrap in a negative way?

I have seen alot of 5th gen 1les and never noticed no hood damage. I'm guessing it's the same type of wrap used for vinyl stripes and never noticed no damage on any of my cars I'm past.

No can do. Finish won't match, it will look odd, you will see the line easier. I am going to clear bra the whole nose, not the hood. The hood line is kinda flat, I don't see it getting too many nicks and such. Plus, worse comes to worse, just get it re-wrapped. My friend has a 65,000 5th gen 1LE and last I looked I didn't see any issues...mine won't be my DD anyway, so I'll be fine.

This is the same concern I had when I was considering the clear bra for my 50th.
With the stripe being matte in surface finish, I didn't want the stripe to look partially glossy.
I think you'll be fine if you just leave the hood alone.

they can cut around the stripe. I have full hood clear bra, and they cut around the matte black stripes.

but for a full wrapped hood on a 1LE, that would not look good at all. The wrap is already protecting the paint, why add another layer? If your hood takes some rocks along the way, just get it re-wrapped down the road.

XPEL and Suntek offer matte finish PPF. It can be applied over the black matte vinyl. Will maintain the original look of the hood as well as protect it.
