Shocks/Struts for 2017 2SS convertible with MRC

Have 2017 2SS convertible with Magnetic Ride Control and 80k miles and need new shocks/struts. I’m sure they have leaked and I can hear the clunking randomly when hitting bumps on the rears and the ride has been terrible over every bump.

I called the dealer and they want $3900 to do it!!! Crazy

Looking at Service Parts Identification, my car lists as a 1AK67 (convertible SS) with FE3 F55 codes so further digging around gave me the following part numbers and prices through GMpartsGiants (original part numbers were replaced with these from what I can tell)

Part No.: 85649835
ABSORBER ASM-RR SHK (W/ UPR MT)
$348.25

Part No.: 85649836
[ABSORBER ASM-RR SHK (W/ UPR MT)]
$321.56

Part No.: 85649816
[STRUT ASM-FRT SUSP]
$417.54

Part No.: 85649815
[STRUT ASM-FRT SUSP]
$417.54

After shipping and tax, $1630 and I can do the work myself.

First, can anyone verify these part numbers? Just want to make sure they are correct before I place an order

Second…what else do I need to order to go along with these when I go to replace? I did shocks and struts in my old Mustang convertible years ago with a good friend who actually knows how to do things like this guiding me along…but we did an entire new suspension and lowered the car, so completely different….I want to order anything else I will need to swap out along with the actual MRC shocks and struts so I don’t have the car apart and say “oh, I should have ordered that part too!”

Thanks!

I just replaced my front struts with the exact part numbers you have. They're on Rockauto for 377.89. I also bought of pair of mounts...part number 84103428.

My 21 v6 I replaced with Bilstein b6 40k miles ago. The factory ride was to soft, the Bilsteins fixed it without changing springs. The b6 Bilsteins are same part for all gen6.

Thanks….I ended up ordering the rear shocks first which are definitely bad….they will arrive Thursday, I’ll put those on, then see how the fronts feel. Those were cheaper than fronts, and I believe only 3 bolts and the MRC wire so much easier to swap.

Assuming I have to replace the front struts and mounts too, (will order from Rock as well), how easy or hard were they to replace ? I assume I need a spring compressor…anything else?

I had a shop do it.

Well the rear shocks were easy to install. Passenger side rear was totally blown which explains my rough ride…it’s so much better now. Will order the fronts and get those done when I have time. Will probably just do it myself. Hopefully relatively easy like the backs other than dealing with the springs.
