How the ZL1 was born
And the ZL1 was born.
I found the history of the ZL1 very entertaining and had no idea this is how it all happened https://youtu.be/M42ImD2sVL0?si=2Q6UpHHWC1WxWVVu |

Great video, good info, thanks. Any details on what AI got wrong?
Also, I never knew where the term COPO came from or what the acronym represented. I thought it was unique to the Camaro factory drag strip car (COPO Camaro, no title, etc.) |

COPO = Central Office Production Order, it was a way to "sneak" restriced things into cars, and it was not just Camaros, across many Chevy cars. BBlocks over 400 ci were banned, but COPO allowed a 427 to be introduced through the back door.
COPO program was really intended for fleet orders and the like, but some clever delaers found a way to leverage it (Baldwin, Yenko, etc.) I may not be 100%, but thta is my understanding |
