Wiring for Dashcam question

For those that installed a dashcam and ran the wiring to the trunk under the headliner. did you have to drop the headliner at all? Or were you able to route the power and rear camera wires to the rear by simply tucking the wires under the edges of the headliner? Also any pointers or tips on the install would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The main issue you'll encounter is the front and rear pillar panels and how they overlap. They are annoying to remove, but not overly difficult. Getting to the trunk will be a bit more tricky, and I'd come down the panel next to the rear seat along the door weather-stripping. The rear seat comes out very easily (as does the back seat). Then you can tuck under that rear side panel to enter the trunk.

Gen5diy has a harness you can use. It was super easy to install that way.

Thanks for the info, I ended up running along the sides of the headliner, and into the trunk through the opening in you photo.

I need to go back and pull the A pillars to tuck the cord a little better to make sure it doesn't interfere with the airbags but glad to hear that it shouldn't be any harder than any other trim piece to remove. I had concerns due to the airbags.

The harness from gen5diy isn't the best option, as I didn't want to use the vehicle battery and put a strain on it, so using an external battery pack. Plus like the option to add more external batteries easy to increase parking mode time if needed.
