When I first saw your modification, I thought "that shouldn't be too hard"... hah. Shows you what I know. After several hours of futzing around with things, trying to get it to look right, here's what I've come up with:

Does this work, or does it look too busy? I'm planning on recessing the area below the license plate, and putting in either horizontal slats or a black mesh screen there.
