Yes, gearing can offset the torque loss, however it also reduces efficiency. So now we're losing speed at top end, and losing fuel efficiency as well. It's robbing Peter to pay Paul.

However, with sufficient compression and duel fuel injection combined with the right cam specs, it could be a fun engine in the car. I don't see anything near 600, much less 700 hp out of it, but if we're talking about a road course/autocross car 460 to 500 is plenty.
