Actually, I had the stock front wheels with the OE TPMS, and aftermarket 17" rears without any TPMS in them, for a couple of years, and they were fine. I drove it to the track, so yes the computer would give the tire warning light after driving it for a while. But I was still able to turn T/C off for racing even with the warning light.
