I'd rather have the resistor external than in the bulb, where it's getting no air circulation but meh. to each their own.
Ideally, i'd rather reprogram the stupid BCM to register the new current draw without resistors at all as "good" like lots of other cars used to be able to do back when they introduced this "helpful" bulb out detection but chevy has no interest in being helpful to diy'ers.
going on 2 years with led everywhere and no failures. Though, i've never really had an issue with LED bulbs in my previous cars either.
