My car stays locked into whatever steering mode I want unless I put it in mode selector. Then it follows the table you posted. It also will override suspension, as I have overridden into sport suspension to soften the car up when running an extremely bumpy autox.

Track mode steering is just reducing the assist so artificially heavy probably isn't the right term. It is definitely unnecessarily heavy though. You can get just as much steering feel in Tour and I have only used sport sparingly to help steady my hands on fast sweeping corners. Track is just too much effort and makes it harder to feel.

However this is a good tool to adjust depending on the driver. If you have "happy hands" use track steering, if your more precise with your inputs and don't want any extra tension fighting your hands then use tour steering.
