Hi all,

This is the very beginning of a project log that requires some preplanning...

I am throwing it on here because I am looking for some info that may come up later and will influence the direction I go in

Since I will be ordering a 1LE... there are still alot of unknowns in terms of what parts will be compatible with this Track Package sub-variant and what weight saving measures will be worthwhile...

here's my initial plan and idea... please feel free to comment if you have any info to share.

Overview

Swiss Army Knife Track/Canyon Carver/DD Camaro…. 1LE 2SS…. Mag-Ride Z28…. whatever the name…. The idea is a car coming close to non-Z07 Corvette GS handling at a great value with $$$ left over to reduce weight and eventually get close to LS7 power... In addition... Chevy parts and lightweight aftermarket speakers and custom seat heaters to bring back comforts of 2SS... Combine the best pieces of the Camaro and aftermarket parts bin to make the ultimate daily driver and weekend track car.

Lighten weight across the board by removing rear seats, replacing stock Recaros with lightweight racing seats. Remove mass in every system possible… stock dual mass clutch, stock exhaust system, stock lug nuts, stock hood, stock drive shaft…..

Goals

-Save $40,000 by ordering a 1LE Camaro SS instead of a 2LT Corvette Grand Sport. (Canadian $$$, and I get a GM Preferred Price from my work... which isnt available for the 'Vette)

-Use $10,000-15,000 to first lighten the car to make it handle even better, add creature comforts like Nav, Seat Heat and lightweight aftermarket speakers ( no bass boxes)... then add naturally aspirated power to give a non-Z07 Grand Sport a run for its money….

-Looking for tuners and builders to consider coming up with a total package… I don't need my car for months on end and would allow it to be a test bed… eg Eibach lower springs for FE4 MRC 1LE’s…. Race Seat brackets and harnesses for the 6th Gen SS….

-Looking for stock weights of any/all components that could be replaced to lighten weight and increase performance.

Currently looking for stock weights of:

1LE OEM Wheels

20x10 20mm offset. ^^28 lbs
20x11 43mm offset. ^^29 lbs

(Vertini/Stance fully forged VS 03's staggered at 19" x 10", 19" x 11" 295/30ZR19 , 305/30ZR19 Pilot Sport 4 S

(weights for my sizes 22.6-23.0 lbs)

-28 lbs unsprung weight

Winter wheel set MRR FS01 19 x 10 ( 285/35R19 & 305/35R19 Sottozero 3 potentially

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Pi...tozero-3_2.htm

( Vancouver winters)

2x Cobra Motorsports Kevlar Seats ( 19 lbs + 11 lbs sliders/ mounts/brackets)

-50 lbs over stock seats ( stock seats each 55 lbs.... -25 lb per front seat)

DriveShaft….. 24-28 lbs (Gforce aluminum drive shaft 17 lbs)
Hood…..
1LE Recaro seats ( they look pretty bulky).....
Rear Seatback Delete Kit( Custom) -16 lbs
Battery ( 40.7 lb)
Stock Lug Nuts (13.2 oz per wheel 5x)
Rear Glass ( possible Optic Armour / Lexan).....
Full Exhaust System ( Tri Y's, collectors, catbacks, NPP mufflers)
Complete OEM SS A8 exhaust front to back with NPP 121.90 lbs
NPP Mufflers with 6" of pipe going in 39.30 lbs
Complete mid section and cats 59 lbs
Exhaust manifolds (pair) 23.60 lbs (11.8 lbs each)
OEM Driveshaft 23 lbs ( shipping weight + packaging)

Stock Primary Cats ...9 lbs each (2)

MBRP Race Series Catback 52 lbs (-28 lbs weight saving from behind stock Primary Cats)
Stock diffuser ( replace with CF if weight savings worthwhile).....

** GT4R Hood?!**

Please add any items you think might be good candidates for replacements and weight savings....
