My son had his G37 at college in Ft. Myers for 4 years. First year he went off the road once in the rain without damaging anything. I basically said, "That's it, new tires for you."
I did look at summer-only options, knowing he was gonna be there a while. While I think some summer tires would've offered better dry grip, my main concern was wet grip. Also, all the summer-only options were significantly more expensive than the BFG's being discussed here. He had the earlier non-plus version of this tire. Lasted him 3.5 years without incident.
