Dexos 2 is less likely to cause that kind of buildup, and the same goes for carbon in the chambers and on the compressor fins of a turbo. IOW, when the oil does burn, it burns cleaner and with less emissions of its own. And it reduces sludge buildup in colder parts of the engine. It's all emissions related. Also, DI engines have more problems with washdown of the cylinder walls and gasoline getting into the oil. So Dexos 2 oil also has to meet the most stringent anti-wear standards ever placed on motor oils.
This is why ESP formula. It is a low SAPS oil, meaning that it doesn't leave deposits or has reduced deposits. Important in direct injected engines, the intake valves especially. If you are looking for an alternate then look for oils with the European ACEA C3 rating.
