I did what they told me. Didn't hurt anything, and I still had a good time. In the meantime, if anything DID go wrong...I can say I followed their instructions. It didn't so...all's well that ends well. Remember, the break-in is just as important for non-engine components...

The engines are not broken in at the engine plant like some think...and interestingly, the Tonawanda Engine Plant (folks that make our LT1s, and LT4s) had an engine-building display at the auto show in town; they explained the reddish coating on the rod bearing inserts was there to break in the journal-to-rod bearing point. That stuff's gotta go somewhere...

On all new cars I buy, I change the oil at 500 miles...then again at 1500.

Everyone seems to have their own methods and opinions, though.
