Yup, it actually takes away quite a bit of precision. The more aggressive the setting, the less "wiggle room" the pedal has, working the same way an audio volume compressor or quantizer reduces dynamic range. The tradeoff can still be worth for some, but there is neither a free lunch nor a silver bullet
