Possible, but I see that you're in Ontario. I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area, and even though it's been 100-110 all summer, this hasn't happened to me. I do use a sun shield at work in the summer, though.
Frankly, I think it's a luck-of-the-draw thing. Leather can be weird stuff. Some holds up, some doesn't. So many factors involved.
I still say the dealer will replace it.
