It's up to you. GM does not recommend any break-in oil change, but I gotta tell you, the first oil that you drain at 1500 or 2000 miles or whatever is cloudy with metal dust.
As for taking it easy for 1500 miles, it's mostly about breaking in the gear wear surfaces. I would't DREAM of WOT before break-in is completed. But then, I'm an adult.
