I hear ya, that is why I drain it and save it. Take out at least 1/2 the capacity of the cooling system. Gets mighty cold here in Connecticut also and my car is my daily driver. The petcock on the bottom of the right side of radiator is easy to get at and I usually reinstall the OE 194 stat at the same time.
