For sure, getting bent out of shape at the scene wouldn't of helped anything, I've been in those kinds of situations enough to push the emotional reactions aside until it's appropriate to vent it out.
If anything, as it was all happening, I was hoping the car would get totaled so I could start fresh again. There's not much worse than a bent up car that's never right again. When I got out of the car to assess the damage, it was quickly clear that it's relatively superficial.
