The 3R's were designed specifically for the ZL1 1LE thru a collaboration of GM and Goodyear. I am no engineer BUT they had to be alot of consideration in the design of the tire specifically in the sidewall of the tire to be able to support the forces thrown at it by a 3900 pound car. RR's work GREAT on 2400 pound Miatas and are basically the preferred tire option on those cars for sure but not so much on our cars.
You make good points, but G3Rs are also made for the street. Dry, warm weather, the RRs are race tires, only! My friend who has been racing for 20 years, compared them to Hosier R7s, but last longer. That is saying a lot, because R7s are fast as hell. We will see, soon. I can’t wait to try the G3Rs, mid month.
