I have a '14 Tacom 4x4 Off Road that has a towing capacity of 6400lbs. I've towed 4500lbs with it and it was fine but was still under max by almost 2000lb. I also had 2000 Blazer 4x4 with 4.3 V6 that was rated at 5600lbs. I pulled a 28' pontoon that weighed around 4000lbs. It would strain awful on the slight grades just west of KC. There are just too many variables - type trailer, type road, condition, hills, head winds and one a lot of people do not consider, outside temperature. Max weight towing and even slight uphill grade can easily overheat engine. Trying to tow 4500 with a vehicle rated 4500 would be an issue in my book regardless of vehicle.
