NJ AREA MEET III

Final Update 11/30/09: The arrangements are as follows. For those of you who have wrapped your gifts great, for those who have not wrapped the gifts yet, you do not have to wrap them. I just called Lauren and ran through the list again with her and voiced my concerns of having people wrap batteries, lol. She informed me that some of the children do not have the ability (Cognitive/Physical) to unwrap gifts and therefore do not need to be wrapped. Secondly, we will be bringing the toys in and setting them aside where the room has space. Also she insisted that people can come into the recroom and introduce themselves to the children and they will have an activity/s planned for those who would like to participate with the children. She said they allow the children to open the gifts on Christmas (which is only fair) but they do have other groups doing what we are doing (Toy drop off).

Route #2(http://www.mapquest.com/mq/7-y43KaLR7bwctwTWKzON_) is our winner!!! The weather looks to be 56 degrees and SUNNY!! So i will continue to wish for the weatherman to not let me down (Ron Burgandy). I will arrive at the cracker Barrel around 10:30-10:45 to grab some food. Those who would like to meet are more than welcome, those who want to go earlier may do so as well but please try and arrive no later than 12:15PM. The manager of CB knows we are coming and has stated that if we eat or not we can still park in the back lot. I would also like to get a group shot of us this time, all the meets we have had and no group shot. So the best place to do this group shot would be across the CB in the adjacent parking lot (corporate center, BIG Glass buildings) we can then do something "al-la" VA with packing them in (cars only) then Owners & Friends in front. I have uploaded instructions on how to send routes to your car via MapQuest / On Star here: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dgsnx7br_3fdf87jqq

We have to be at the facility by 1PM (15min route) leaving by 2PM-2:15PM (you do not have to stay until 2PM just giving you an idea of what time frame we have), so i think we should have the group photo done and ready to travel by 12:30PM (allows for Red light catchers). So far we have 21-22 cars committed and i would like to have 2 other people who are familiar with the area to volunteer to be split leaders in case (and it will happen) some people get caught at a red light, i counted 5-6 lights on this route. Now once we pass Centennial Rd & Cooper RD (intersection) there is a spot right in front of a housing development with a huge shoulder (like cooper river). We will all pull onto the shoulder to allow the rest to catch up (because the next turn will put us right near the facility). While we are waiting for people to catch up and fall in line, you may step out and take photos if you like, this is an inclined hill so you can get shots of all the cars in line. From there the leaders will sound off and we will round our last corner to the facility. I am asking that they have the back part of the lot saved for us so we can all park next to each other. We are all particular about our cars and know how to open/close our doors. We know how fast the door can open, so i would rather have us all parked next to each other rather than next to a 4 door Civic!!! lol. From my recon we will only have Camaro's next to each other which is a +.

We will enter the building and place the toys in the appropriate spot and continue with the greeting of the children and activity, not sure what the activity is.

I know this is a TON of information but i want everyone to know/understand what is going on. I know i like it when i know exactly what is going on. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. If anyone has seen what the weather is going to be like and has changed their minds and wants to go, just post "I'm In" and you are added. This should be great, and i appreciate all you guys for stepping up and making this happen, if anything the visit means a lot to them. Oh yeah and G-Man and Mrs. G-Woman; i tried to make it 70 degrees but could only get you 56! Sorry...HaHa.

Ps. If you can be one of the leaders please PM me, I need 2, but 3-4 couldn't hurt. Thanks.

Update 11/24/09: OK the list is Available! Please create an account on GoogleDocs; it is very easy and once the account is created you can edit and save your changes. You can view and make changes without a Google Doc account but i think the changes will not be uploaded properly if you make a change. I have made it so you can make changes without having an account so if you run into issues email me or create an account. I have two sections for people to view the list, but there is only one area in which you can edit the list. Please take a couple of notes before you click away and begin to commit to the items. The list is a general list that is for all the children and the needs that they have. As you will see the list is a bit different from everyday Christmas gifts but the are gifts none the less and greatly needed by the children. So please donate what you can and no one person or Car is limited to one item. The list is not meant as a competition so no one will know who got what. As G-man said " These children never asked for this to happen, so it will be greatly brighten up their holiday". I have tried to make this as easy as possible for everyone. When you open the document you will notice that column "C" is the Remaining Items list. This column is telling you how many items are left in that column that are available to buy. Column "D" is where i want everyone to place their corresponding purchase amount ( take note of the number in said column and add yours to it and replace that number). So if before you edit the batteries row, column D has 10 already there (that means someone has already put down that they are getting 10 Batteries) and you are getting 10 Batteries, the final number in column D when you are done will be 20 Batteries. I have set it up so that number will subtract from the "Remaining Item List". I have listed everything in single units. So the item "Barrettes" 1 Barrette = 1 Barrette. So buying bulks can't hurt. Stuff like Batteries / Barrettes I will allow on the document an overflow/ a surplus. Other things like Movies,CD's, Books, please on the same row leave what book/CD/Movie you are getting so that others have an idea of the movie genre/type of item you are getting so they do not buy the same. One last thing, when you click on the editing link to edit the "LIST" please take notice in the upper right hand corner of your browser you will see who is viewing with you. Being that this is my first time with Google Doc's i know people can edit all at the same time, but if you hit the drop down window you can type a message in the box "Instant Message" asking if that person is done. That way we do not have 18-30 people editing and saving changes at once. If anyone has any suggestions/ questions or problems please email me at lburton2007@comcast.net. I hope this goes smooth and we all get to enjoy a great event. Also the Publish link (Page) will be updated after every change, this way the information stays current. Also please read the Visiting statement from the Facility. The statement helps to provide behavior and rules of the facility.
