Years ago if a switch or knob broke, you may fix or live with it pending what it specifically controlled. Now with the newer displays & the way they control every thing you are locked in to getting it fixed properly. Am not bashing or trying to be negative. But the thought is always there when ever in a newer car, regardless the mfg. Cannot imagine it will be an inexpensive thing to have to deal with.
Very fair point, and I would put it at the top of my list of things that could ruin the plan. But I don't think I am wrong about the direction we are heading with CAFE/CO2 standards. I hope that I am. I really do. 10 years ago, we were talking about Peak Oil, and gasoline at $5+ per gallon for good, but the industry responded by figuring out a way to bring too much oil to market, and now prices are depressed.

I guess if we had a crystal ball, we would be posting on the Bugatti forums, eh?
