FYI the
manual's wording suggests that low coolant is an expected condition from normal use ("when it is low" not "if") that should be checked for (pages 271-276). There are plenty of people who have posted in
this thread that found low coolant without any other adverse symptoms from their car. I actually checked my own car after reading that thread last year and found that I needed to add some coolant to both the top and bottom tanks. Or maybe the factory is not filling the coolant to the correct levels on some cars.
