I would blip the throttle and the transmission would go into performance shift mode and drop automatically into the lowest possible gear. The car was a terror on the hit and the 3rd to 4th upshift felt like I got rear ended. It leaped forward.
I have a 18 with M6 now, and while it’s more fun around town, the A8 was definitely faster. I miss that performance shift mode too. Not only for the upshift, but also how badass the downshift was rolling into a parking lot or stop light.
This A10 driver didn’t know how to drive it.

Truly a shame the A8 ended up being such a disappointment mechanically for many owners.
