Dunno, I have a
2016 samsung phone with a wireless charge backing plate between the phone and the rubberized case I use, and it works just fine on the charging pad. Never even slides a bit during 0.8-0.9g cornering.
Okay, this is a smallish unit compared to those more recent frying pans, but it does all I need, plus I enjoy how I don't have to think about keeping the phone charged, I can just plop it on the pad, done. Once I upgrade to a newer phone, I'll look into slicing up the edges of the pad a little bit to make it fit.
OP, at least your car has roughly double the storage capacity now, win-win since you don't care about wireless charging anyway
