As others have stated it appears to be rodent damage. Take a look for any signs of feces underneath the engine cover, near the intake, etc. you may also want to check the cabin filter (which is usually located behind the glovebox) for nesting materials, food scraps, feces. Usually, once a rodent has entered the cabin the stench of feces and urine will be present and noticeable! I have seen people use circular mouse bait attached with zip-ties to various areas along the wiring harness, away from moving parts and not attached to fluid hoses. I also recommend tying a large number of fabric dryer sheets to these same areas underneath the hood and if needed place within the cabin filter box, the scent supposedly deters them from entering. Hopefully, if it is a rodent infestation you caught it early enough.
