After I had a mouse get into my 2017 ...then of course DIE back behind the blower motor....I fashioned some 1/8" screening over that stupid cabin air filter inlet. Problem solved.
I agree...that looks a lot like what a mouse would do.

Got a pic? All i see, is a plastic grid with 1" square holes, covered by a rubber flap. No challenge for a mouse with any IQ at all.
