Dyno Today

OK prior to doing the dyno today we had some bets about the power this car would make. I thought somewhere around 600 and the tuner thought around 550 due to the fact that we were NOT using an MSD manifold with 103 Throttle body and the fact that we used a somewhat MILDER cam.

Well my initial goal with this car was to be able to make the same power as my ZL1 STOCK did. With that in mind, the dyno chart below shows BOTH my current 416 NA engine at 554HP and a ZL1 at 551HP. OF course being supercharged the Zl1 makes the power QUICKER BUT if you look at around 5000 RPM on and the graphs are almost identical.

I mentioned earlier that with the A10 in track mode my car doesnt really see below 4500 RPMS anyway.

Switch to a MSD intake, 103 Throttle body with a slightly larger cam and the car will see 580-600 pretty easily with the MAX power in the 6500 RPM range compared to roughly 6200 now. The stock short block that WAS in the car PRIOR to the 416 saw MAX power around 5800 RPM.

The SECOND dyno chart compares the engine that WAS in the car (stock cubic inch) to the NEW 416.

NEXT step is to put 500 miles on the engine because it currently had breakin AMSOIL in it. I will try and do that in the next week or so. Then the engine will get its 15-50W AMSOIL. Next track date is roughly two weeks so before THEN we will also install a couple of racing seats using for now the stock seat belts. If time permits we will also try the MSD Intake, 103TB and larger cam.
